Lesson 17: Other Types of Boundaries
Lesson 17: Other Types of Boundaries
Hi AY Family,
In our world today, there is a lot of entertainment going on.
Christians think that it is okay to go to the movies because it is just a movie, but they do not know what spirit is behind those movies.
We have to be mindful of the games that we play, the books that we read, and also the shows that we watch because they can either bring us closer to God or turn us away from Him.
We think that we are engaging in these things just for fun, but we do not realize that demonic forces arise, whether physically or in our sleep.
We should also be mindful of the music, the songs, and even the people behind the songs that we listen to.
Like I said before, we might think that it is okay for us to listen to music with drums and bass guitars in church, but God does not want us to play those kinds of instruments because they are not glorifying Him, and He knows that those instruments cause us to jam to the music instead of hearing the Holy Spirit speaking to us.
God wants us to listen to peaceful instruments like the piano, the violin, or acoustic guitar so that we can hear the Holy Spirit speaking to us.
There is a difference between listening to music to gratify ourselves and listening to music to hear the Holy Spirit speaking to us.
He does not want us to listen to worldly music because they are not of Him.
We think that every Christian song is okay to listen to, but we do not realize that we not only have to be mindful of the kind of music behind the song, but also the lyrics.
God does not want us to listen to songs with lyrics that are based on our feelings instead of on Him.
We think that singing the words of the songs we sing repeatedly glorifies God, but it is demonic because Satan loves it.
We think that we are glorifying God with the kind of Christian music that we listen to, but instead, we listen to the music to entertain ourselves.
The best movies to watch are biblical movies, the best games to play are Bible games, the best books to read are the Bible and other biblical books, and the best songs we can sing are songs directly from Scripture.
If we love the world, then the love of the Father, which is God, is not in us.
1 John 2:15 says: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
One song that we should not be singing, for example, is "Let It Be". I have never heard that song before and when I played it, I immediately knew that it is unbiblical because of the words.
The words "Mother Mary comes to me" and "Speaking words of wisdom" were red flags to me.
The Mary the song is referring to is Jesus' mother.
First of all, how can someone who is dead come to you?
Second, how can she speak words of wisdom when she was a sinner just like the rest of us?
I knew that this was a Roman Catholic song and that the Roman Catholic Church took out the second commandment from Exodus 20 because they worship Mary and have her as a graven image.
Exodus 20:4-6 says: “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.”
Sincerely,
Samuel Reid
