DISCLAIMER: I know about the different stages of sexual grooming from personal experience. Sexual grooming is not only happening in the Sunday Christian churches, but it's also happening in the Seventh-day Adventist churches.

The fourth stage of sexual grooming is filling a need.

     Filling a need happens when the teen or adult fills the need of being a friend or family member for the victim.

     While there is the positive side of it – in familial or social situations where a teen or adult truly loves and cares about the person's well-being because the person is not comfortable around anyone else – there is also the negative side of it where the teen or adult fills the need of being a friend or family member for the victim as an excuse to continue their inappropriate behavior.
