Hi AY Family,

God does not want us to bear false witness against our neighbor.

When we bear false witness against our neighbor, we are breaking the ninth commandment in Exodus 20.

Exodus 20:16 says: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”

God does not want us to use our words to gossip about people, but He wants us to use our words to encourage them.

Speaking of bearing false witness against our neighbor, lying lips are an abomination to the Lord.

Proverbs 12:22 says: “Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.”

There are six things that God hates, but all seven are an abomination unto Him.

Proverbs 6:16-19 says: “These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”

The Bible calls Satan "The father of lies".

John 8:44 says: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

When we bear false witness against our neighbor, we grieve the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 4:29-30 says: “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
