Lesson 35: Cover-up Culture
Hi AY Family,
DISCLAIMER: I know about the different phases of cover-up culture from personal experience. Cover-up culture is not only happening in the Sunday Christian churches, but it's also happening in the Seventh-day Adventist churches.
The fourth phase of cover-up culture is what I call "The Accountability Phase".
In this phase, teens and adults need to be held accountable for the way they took advantage of minors.
We think that we can just pray away or forgive and forget a teen's or adult's behavior towards a minor, but the Bible calls that a sin.
James 4:17 says: “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
If we do not talk about the trauma that teens and adults have done to minors, then we will continue with this cover-up culture where we cover up teens' and adults' behavior while minors continue to suffer in silence.
By not holding teens and adults accountable for their actions towards minors, their behavior towards them will continue and also happen to other minors.
Luke 12:2-3 says: “For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.”
Sincerely,
Samuel Reid
